Press Release
Stafford Half Marathon Runners Wanted to join ‘Team NACCPO’
Children’s Cancer Charity – The National Alliance of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations (NACCPO) is looking for runners to join ‘Team NACCPO’ and run next year’s Stafford Half Marathon on Sunday 21st March and raise funds for this worthy cause at the same time.
The charity very much has it’s roots in Stafford as Operations Manager Rachael Olley, herself a parent who has had a child with cancer, organises many fundraising events in the town.
Rachael said: “We are looking to get a great team of runners together to raise sponsorship money and run in football kit or NACCPO t shirts to raise both funds and awareness of this small national charity”. The 2009 Half Marathon raised approx £2000 for the charity and was the first year that ‘Team NACCPO’ had fielded a 15-strong team. Rachael added “We have a large fundraising event on 25th April 2010 which is a charity football match at Stafford Rangers between Wolves All Stars and Stoke City Old Boys so to have ‘Team NACCPO’ runners in football kit would be great publicity for that so I am appealing for people to join us. All funds will be used by the charity to help more families through the devastation that a diagnosis of childhood cancer brings”.
Runners must register to take part and Rachael is urging people to register ASAP as places are filling up fast.
Half marathon entries can be made in person at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre's Box Office, Eastgate Street, Stafford, ST16 2LT or Telephone Stafford Gatehouse Theatre's Box Office on 01785 254 653
