Press Release - Charity Footbal Match
Press Release.
STARS turn up to support local charity against the odds!!
Children’s Cancer Charity - NACCPO - The National Alliance of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations, were due to film a video on Wednesday to help promote their forthcoming charity football match. Organisers were amazed that some of the invited celebrities braved the elements and still travelled many miles to offer their support for the event.
The filming took place at Stafford Rangers Football Ground and organiser Eddie Johnson feared the worst as plummeting temperatures, ice and snow threatened to jeopardise the day. However, all involved were made of stronger stuff!
TV star and famous Stoke City fan, Nick Hancock of ‘They Think It’s All Over’ fame arrived early despite having driven many miles, as did former Stoke City goalkeeper Neil Cutler.
Eddie said: “We sat and watched many vehicles crash into one particular road sign opposite Stafford Rangers ground as road conditions were treacherous. I can’t believe the dedication of all who gave up their time to make the filming a success. At one point the film crew got stuck in traffic themselves but battled through to arrive ‘on time’ and ensured we got some great footage. Those who were unable to travel by road even made it there on foot!”. Eddie added “Nick Hancock amazed us with his professionalism, sincerity and friendliness and even took time to enjoy a snowball fight!”
The video in question when completed will help promote the forthcoming football match and evening event both to be held on Sunday 25th April 2010 at Stafford Rangers FC’s Marston Road ground, between the ex-pro’s of Wolves All Stars and Stoke City Old Boys. The event will raise much needed funds for NACCPO which supports families whose children have cancer.
Some of the stars already pledged to either play or help out are legends such as Cyrille Regis, Neil Cutler, Mel Eves, Graham Shaw, Phil Robinson, Darren Simkin, Ian Wright, Don Goodman, Paul Ware, Phil Heath, John Purdie and current Stafford Rangers boss Chris Brindley to name but a few and the charity has the support of many famous ex players and fans such as Nick Hancock, Jeremy Bates, Rachael Hey-Hoe Flint, George Berry and many others. The whole day bodes being an event not to be missed with some secret surprises waiting in the wings to make it a fantastic fun family day!
The charity itself very much has it’s roots in Stafford as Operations Manager Rachael Olley, lives in the area and is herself a parent who has had a child with cancer. Rachael organises many fundraising events in the town and said “I can’t wait to see the video which will be shown at Stoke City home matches on the big screen and on You-tube and Facebook etc. It is a wonderful opportunity to promote the event and also raise awareness of a small but important charity. Many thanks must go to local film company Rising Brook Media who have been absolutely tremendous in shooting the footage for us.”
Eddie and Rachael are trying to raise awareness of the event far and wide and are also looking for runners that have already entered or want to enter the Stafford Half Marathon to run for ‘Team NACCPO’ in WOLVES or STOKE football kits to help further promote the event. All funds will be used by the charity to help more families through the devastation that a diagnosis of childhood cancer brings.
